Hey friend!
Today I want to share a quick story of two marketers with the same budget.
Mike and Dave.
Mike and Dave are both managing content at SaaS startups.
They both have $1500 to spend on blog content, but they have very different approaches to their budgets.
Mike is focused on getting his blog post created and published.
And he uses most of his time focusing on getting the content produced.
Because the more content he publishes, the better. He’s burnt out constantly creating new content.
Constant chasing the next thing.
But he has to look productive, so he keeps on creating. He might share a link out on social media. But most of the time, nobody sees it.
After he hits publish, he moves on to the next post. And starts the whole cycle over again.
Dave, on the other hand, is a different kind of guy…
He uses his budget to get the blog created.
But he knows how to repurpose existing content into 20+ pieces of new content.
Dave then drips that content out over 4 months.
He can sit back knowing that the core message is going to constantly get in front of his audience.
And because he’s maximizing his blog budget, he can take bigger bets in other areas.
Here's the thing...
Most companies are creating plenty of content.
But 99% of them don’t have a plan to actually get it in front of their audience.
Your content is worthless if nobody sees it.
Old Vs. New: A Tale of Two Strategies
Now if we think about a podcast, traditionally an episode would be published, maybe promoted once or twice on social media, and that was it.
Then onto the next piece of content.
Instead of constantly hopping onto the next thing, now you can think about your podcast, webinar, or blog post as the starting point for everything else.
Old Way:
- Publish the podcast = 100 listens
New Way:
- Podcast Episode: 100 listens
- Social Content: 500-1000 views
- YouTube Content: 20-50 views
- Blog/Summary Post: 100 views
- Newsletter: 500 views
