Hey friend!

I recently got asked this question on my podcast:

"What is the first thing I can do to better manage the all of content we've created?"

It's a common question. Anyone who's created content for any bit of time quickly realizes how much all that stuff starts to pile up.

Even if you only create one piece of content every week, you still end up with 52 pieces at the end of the year. Many of which go completely untapped.

So today I'm going to give 3 quick wins you can do to filter through what you have and start getting more out of your content archive.

The more consistent you can be, the faster you'll build your brand.

Get off the content hamster wheel for good...

As a marketer, one of the most important things I've learned is that you can't excel in a silo.

My best (and most fun moments) came when I had a group of marketers in my circle for accountability and support, to learn from, and to grow with.

And this is why I started the Distribution First community.

It's a place to connect with like-minded marketers to follow a proven roadmap of success and get the support you need to build and scale your content engine without burning out.

Now, onto our regularly scheduled programming...

1. Identify and repurpose your top content

First, you have to identify what's worth reusing.

Dig into your analytics and find the ten pieces that have performed the best.

This could be blog posts, podcast episodes, or videos.

Look at views, engagement rates, and audience feedback. Once you've identified these, create a repurposing schedule over the next 4-8 weeks.

I like to shorten the window of time because then you're more likely to action and see it through. 4 weeks of content is easier to manage than 4 months.

So if you have a podcast, use the top 4-8 topics as the focus of your blog or newsletter content. The trick is to find your hits and reuse them.

No need to overcomplicate this step.

2. Batch content creation for efficiency

I've done entire newsletters on this, but it's easily becoming one of the best tools in my box.

Set aside a specific block of time this week to create similar pieces of content.

Rather than jam everything into one working session. Outline your ideas in one session. Then write or record in another session.

This method saves time and ensures you have a backlog of content ready for distribution.

Consider designating one day a week (or half a day) as your "content creation day" to stay ahead of your schedule. And guarantee that the work gets done.

I have blocks set aside on my weekly calendar to make sure:

  • podcasts get published
  • newsletters get written
  • and LinkedIn content is created

If I'm not proactive about it, it gets forgotten or rushed at the last minute.

3. Set up a content distribution system

Finally, set up a content distribution system.

Develop a structured plan and create standard operating procedures for how you distribute your content.

Map out the entire lifecycle—from creation to distribution across various channels.

This might include newsletters, social media, and other platforms.

Having a clear checklist or workflow document can speed up your process and make sure you don't miss any steps or feel overwhelmed.

I like to make this a "set it and forget it" area for my strategy.

The topics might change, but the delivery system is always consistent.

And all I have to do is fill in the slot.

Implement these strategies this week and watch how they improve your content distribution.

Have a great week! 👊
