♻️ 3 must-haves to turn any blog into a high-performing newsletter

Today's email is brought by Content Repurposing Roadmap

Hey there!

One of the biggest hurdles to overcome when you're repurposing content is a simple shift in your mindset.

It's opening your mind to the idea that you can get more (usually way more) out of the content you're already creating.

Today I want to give 3 keys to turn any of your blog content into a newsletter. You don't need a fancy strategy. You only need to follow a few easy steps.

1. Add Native Value

Something a lot of newsletters miss out on is Native Value.

What exactly do I mean by Native Value? It's putting the value of the content natively in whatever medium you're using.

It's the difference between tweeting information from a blog post vs. tweeting a link to the blog post.

In this case, it's allowing someone to open your newsletter and get some form of information natively inside their inbox without having to jump off to your actual blog post.

The team at Mutiny could have sent out this email, told their audience they had a framework, and then forced everyone to click off to their site.

But they didn't.

They took a meaty bit of content from the blog post and put that directly inside their newsletter.

I didn't have to leave my inbox and was still able to learn something new.

That's what you want to do.

2. Make it scannable

You want to add Native Value, but you also don't want to straight copy/paste your blog content into your email provider and call it a day.

One of the most important things you can do is take your longer blog content and make it scannable within your email.

The content can stay relatively the same, but you may need to do some reformatting.

I like to use headers, bullets, and numbered lists to extract the main information and make it faster for someone to consume in their email.

And that way, you can always tease out the longer version of the content...

3. Tease the larger blog content

This is a critical step that is easy to miss. You want to clearly let readers know that there is more content out there if they are interested.

Mutiny does a great of this throughout the email. They use a contextual link and also add a button further down with a very clear CTA.

Don't worry about being pushy, because if you've followed the first two steps, you've already loaded up your email with tons of valuable information.

Now, you're giving your reader an opportunity to learn more and dive deeper.

If you have a library full of blog posts, you already have dozens of potential newsletters waiting for you.

Hope it helps you.

Have a great week 👊
