♻️ just stop creating

Hey friend,
Most marketers would kill for a channel with 100,000 subscribers.
One of my favorite authors and thinkers, Dr. Benjamin Hardy, had one. And then, as it was taking off, he shut it down.
Not because it wasn’t working. Not because it wasn’t growing. But because it didn’t serve his goals anymore.
The Courage to Cut What’s Not Serving You
I first heard this story from Chris Jordan on my podcast, who worked directly with Benjamin as part of his content team. At the time, Benjamin’s YouTube channel was thriving.
But here’s the thing: It wasn’t serving him.
Benjamin’s real goal wasn’t YouTube views or building a Youtube channel.
It was writing his next book, spending more time with his family, and doubling down on his speaking engagements.
And the channel had become a distraction. It looked successful on the surface, but was draining time and energy from what mattered most.
That’s when he made the call. He shut it down.
For most people, that sounds insane.
Walk away from 100K subs?
Give up that audience?
But for Benjamin, it was clarity in action. He knew the season he was in, and he was willing to make hard choices to match his priorities.
The Trap of “More”
This is where most of us get it wrong.
We keep stacking on more. More platforms, more posts, more channels.
Because we think that’s what growth looks like. But all we're doing is spreading our focus so thin that nothing gets the attention it deserves.
Benjamin made a decision that most people wouldn’t even consider.
He didn’t get sucked in the comparison trap.
He asked, “Is this even necessary right now?”
That’s a powerful question. One more of us should be asking.
