♻️ stuck in the “blog-first” mindset?

I used to love blogging. It's how I built my career.
And for the past 15 years, blogging and the inbound model have been untouchable.
Companies grew empires by pumping out blog posts and hoping that Google would send them traffic. And for a while, it worked. Like, really worked.
I've pulled in 25+ million views a year using blogging.
But times are changing.
Think about how you consume content today. You're most likely scattered across multiple platforms.
You're on LinkedIn, scrolling through your feed. You're on YouTube, binging videos and Shorts. You're listening to podcasts while walking your dogs or doing the dishes.
What you're not doing as much? Clicking through to a 2,000-word blog post just because some company hit “publish” on a big new guide or research report.
Content marketing needs a complete mindset shift.
It’s no longer about hitting “publish” on your blog and praying for results.
You need to start by asking two key questions:
- Where is my audience already spending time?
- How can I deliver valuable content to them on that channel (consistently)?
If your audience lives on LinkedIn, write 100 posts they’ll love in the next 90 days.
If they crave videos, create a series on YouTube.
If they prefer newsletters, be the one email they can’t wait to open.
The format doesn’t matter as much as reaching your audience where they are.
And here’s what will happen next.
Once you dominate one channel, you can start remixing to others. That LinkedIn post? Expand it to a newsletter. That YouTube video? Turn it into an email and a few social media clips.
That’s what real content marketing looks like today. Not endless blogging with no plan to get it in front of your audience.
So, stop thinking of content as “just blogs.” Start thinking in systems and channels.
Become excellent at distributing your content wherever your audience already is.
And yes, if a blog is still part of your strategy, that's all good.
But only as part of a larger ecosystem.
