Can you believe we're already (almost) halfway through the year? I can't. Though that might also be due to the fact that here in Vancouver our temperatures have been hovering in the mid teens since March.
June is an exciting month for me! I'm down to the final weeks of my course at The Writer's Studio. I have two public readings scheduled (see details below) and I'm working on finalizing my publication submission for Simon Fraser University's emerge anthology.
New on the website:
I've just published my second blog post - 5 Tips to Help Your Critical Reading
What does it mean to read critically? In layperson terms, the act of critical reading involves actively considering and reflecting upon a piece of text rather than passively absorbing the content. This process can be a powerful tool for determining how your favorite authors create the books you love. This blog features my 5 tips to help you analyze what you love or hate about the books you're reading and how to apply it to your writing.
June Events:
Want to hear a sampling of my work?
I'll be reading a portion of my short story, Old and New, Broken and Blue, on Saturday, June 11th, 10AM PST as part of a student reading event through The Creative Academy for Writers.
I'll be reading from my middle grade work in progress - Unintentional Magic, on Monday, June 13th, 6PM PST as part of a student reading event through The Motley Writers Guild.
Hoping your June goes out like a lamb!
