When I was 17, I got rejected from almost every school I applied to.
While all my friends were accepting offers…
I was looking for anywhere that would take me.
Because of my lack of commitment,
I didn’t have the grades to get into any good schools.
I couldn’t even get into a single University.
My only option?
Community College.
I barely made it in.
Honestly, it felt like a waiting room.
Waiting for my life to start.
Waiting for an opportunity to strike.
Waiting for a big break.
It wasn’t coming.
I realized that my life was only going to change because of one person.
Me.
So 2 years in, I dropped out.
Moved back in with my parents.
And started trying to build ‘something’.
I tried:
Door to door sales.
Multi-level marketing.
Brand ambassador.
Social media growth.
Traditional sales.
Clothing line.
Coaching program.
The list goes on.
And nothing worked.
Until…
I got an opportunity to speak.
25 students at a conference.
It was AWFUL and I LOVED it.
Since that day, I never looked back.
Only ahead to what I wanted to create.
Over time,
I developed more skill.
Built a solid reputation as a speaker.
Got a few turning point opportunities.
A part of me still felt like I had something to prove.
Prove that I was more than the result of an exam.
More than the number on my GPA.
Fast forward to this week…
I woke up to the news that Confident By Choice has been featured by Harvard Business Review.
Harvard…
HARVARD.
19 year old me would say ‘you’re crazy.’
Present day, it is still crazy but a part of me understands how.
I get how we got here.
By doing the work.
By never giving up.
By committing to a dream.
By letting go of norms and following your own path.
This is just the beginning and I couldn’t be more excited.
All to say that if you’re currently working on your dream:
Don’t stop.
Level up your commitment.
Engage with the best of who you are.
Today, people may be saying:
“Are you sure you don’t want a backup plan?”
Soon, they’ll be saying:
“I always knew you’d do it.”
Either way, let’s get to work friends.
What is a dream you’re currently working on? Respond to this email and let me know!
