How can you tell if someone is self-conscious?
Easy.
They know everything.
Literally. Everything.
I remember having a conversation with someone after an event.
They were some sort of ‘expert’ and there answer to EVERYTHING was:
“I know.”
After 15 minutes of conversation…
I was ready to go.
Not because they weren’t kind,
But because I felt like I didn’t really know them.
Knowing everything is putting up a wall.
To keep people out.
To protect our ego.
To not get hurt.
But here’s the thing:
Confident people KNOW that they don’t KNOW it all.
They are open to learning.
They are open to growth.
They know they don’t know it all and…
Are humble enough to admit it.
We build confidence by going to the areas of life where we have none.
We build confidence by trying new things.
By failing and changing our approach.
Not by having all the answers.
So this week…
Stretch yourself.
Get into new rooms.
Have new conversations.
Be a student.
Be the kind of person that is willing to say ‘I don’t know, tell me more!’
When you do, you come off more genuine, people connect to you more and you feel more confident because you aren’t putting on a persona.
You’re just being YOU.
The person that is committed to growth.
Th person that is okay not having all the answers.
That is the person we should strive to be.
That’s where real confidence is built.
