“I look terrible but it’s okay, let’s go.”
“I am a mess but what else is new?”
“Must be nice to feel that way.”
“Don’t mind me, just a walking embarrassment.”
“Riding the struggle bus over here.”
If you’ve said any versions of these, you need to stop.
Let me explain.
Sometimes, we use self-deprecating jokes to lighten a situation, make people feel comfortable, or just try to get a laugh.
Though it seems harmless, it is actually crushing your confidence.
We have around 60,000 thoughts a day. 80% of them are negative. The majority about ourselves.
That means we ALREADY talk to ourselves in a negative light.
Why are we going to add fuel to that fire?
The words you tell yourself will determine your level of confidence.
So stop using words, phrases, sayings that are rooted in self-deprecation. START using words, phrases, sayings that are rooted in self-confidence.
If you were to talk to other people, the way you talk to yourself, you would have no friends. Be kind to yourself and use your words to lift yourself up, not tear yourself down.
You are extraordinary, but the first step to living that way is believing it.
Tell yourself great things.
Be your own biggest fan.
HYPE yourself up.
"I know I failed in the past but I can do this!"
"I can make this happen."
"I have what it takes to achieve this goal."
"I am incredible!"
These phrases move you towards your goal. They ignite that fire in you to keep going. Make sure you are using powerful language when you speak to yourself.
It is the difference maker when it comes to your level of confidence.
If you believe in you, it will allow others to believe in you.
I believe in you. I am in your corner. You've got this.
Time to make the rest of 2024 absolutely incredible!
