When you talk to a top performer it is honestly not that hard to spot it.
Here is a really fun exercise to do. Look at these 3 pictures of current MD of Formula 1 teams:
Now tell me - out of the three, which one would you hire to manage your F1 team?
I ran that test with people who do not know anything about F1.
50 people randomly selected.
42 of them picked the second one. Toto Wolff, the MD of Mercedes - 7 times world champion and counting.
The hard thing with A-Players is not to spot them.
It's to find them.
