Weekly Team Leader Tip: orientation is key

“You don’t need the whole map. You need the next tile—and the guts to place it.”
Most leaders I meet aren’t stuck because they lack ideas. They’re stuck because they’re waiting for clarity that never fully arrives.
But clarity is a lagging indicator. It often comes after you act.
Generalist leaders know this. They know that real progress is built tile by tile—not with grand plans, but with courageous decisions made in partial light.
That’s why I often ask: What’s the smallest next move you can make… that still aligns with the larger mosaic?
You don’t need certainty. You need orientation.
And the discipline to move before the map is complete.
