Secrets and Street Team Application Inside!

I'm Trusting You to Keep a Secret…

Ramblings from the Desk of J. Morgyn White

September is here and all the colored leaf energy is fueling my days. Hoping you are getting some cool nights with that hint of spooky season.

I'm Trusting You to Keep a Secret...

Tirran & Esma's story, a medieval sword & sorcery romantic fantasy, is going to be my first release of 2027 (Title Coming - codename TFK) and I'm hoping to have it in your hands by May 2027. I have to sit on secrets for a few more weeks but if you promise not to share, I can let you see the first color preview of the necklace Esma wears which Tirran is cursed into. (can you see a theme in my writing?)

I literally screamed when I saw the sketches I had to choose from. You are going to love these two; I know it in my soul. The artist Adi Denner is incredible. I cannot wait to show you the full color portraits next time. Let me know what you think.

I'm working nights and days on the edits for the May book so I'm hoping to open a beta round in November.

Here's the mini pitch:

Esma Onates, a sword-trained merchant’s daughter isn’t looking to be saved, she’s determined to save herself. But Esma’s father’s untimely death has turned her into a pawn. Fleeing an arranged marriage which would mean the loss of her inheritance, Esma inadvertently steals an enchanted necklace. When the spell breaks, it releases a mysterious young noble who’s lost his memory: Tirran, Prince of Iragane, who’s been put under a spell by his stepmother.

Using the forbidden magic of ancestral keys and relying on the power behind Esma’s religion, together Esma and Tirran must stand against those who threaten their birthrights and save the kingdom from the ruthless wizard who’s killed the King (Tirran's Father). But first they have to stop the imposter prince from stealing the crown.

The flavor of this novel is that of a fantasy medieval north-east Spain (Aragon).

Excited? So am I... If you want in, just hit reply to the email and I'll add you to my list :)

Speaking of lists...

Street Team Sign Ups

Since I've leaked the next book, I've decided to open the Street Team form on the down low. If you've been on the Nightshade Hearts ARC or Street Team, I'd love to continue our friendship and reveal all I have dreamt up for 2027.

As you know I write across genres so the Street Team members will get to choose which books they want to work on. I'm all about giving choices and not making demands as I know how busy street teams are supporting all the Indie Authors. I don't know what we'd do without them!

My Street Team has a dedicated Discord where they get the inside track on all the secrets I have in store, my takes on the business of publishing, along with the trials and adventures of my path to get the next book published.

They get to see the sketches and the color art as I get them and the first reveals on chapters, covers and all the fun stuff. The Street Team also gets automatic eARCs and swag, plus whatever wildness I can offer up. There's no monthly commitment. Come join our party.

From The Library

My current read is The Pirate Queen by Ariel Lawton (A historical novel about the Irish sea captain and folk heroine, Grace O'Malley) and so far I can't wait to get back to it. Ariel Lawhon is the author of The Frozen River which I also just bought to read on a great recommendation from a friend. Last read was the fabulous first book in the Bridge Kingdom Trilogy by Danielle L. Jensen.

For Spooky Season reading: Fleeing Fate - Lunar Eclipse Book One

What if your fated mate is

the villain of your story?

Learn More

Emily Grant, a sweet omega, has little choice but to flee before her mate bond to the monstrous Alpha Aidan Blackwood is confirmed. But her escape doesn't go smoothly and by the time she stumbles—injured and sick—into the Lunar Eclipse territory, she's all out of options.

That's when she meets Jackson Clark—the gruff, brooding delta responsible for pack security. He helps her, but he doesn't trust her. Because Jackson has trauma of his own and trusting the damaged new girl his wolf pines for is something he's not prepared for.

He watches her like a predator waiting for its prey to slip up. And yet… when he's near, Emily's wolf purrs instead of cowering. They can't help being drawn to each other, no matter how hard they try to resist the pull.

Because Jackson's touch lights a fire within Emily, making her feel things she thought she never could. With him, the scars of Emily's past begin to fade.

But Emily's past isn't done with her. The monster she fled is still hunting. And when he finds her, no one will be safe. Especially not Jackson.

On The Screen

My Brilliant Career on Netflix was marvelous. An entirely different feel from the original adaptation and I was swooning. If you love Christopher Chung (Roddy) on Slow Horses you'll see how incredibly talented he is. Speaking of Slow Horses I'm literally counting down the days to the next season.

Can't wait to show you more art next time. As always I'll leave you with a snippet of writing. This is the beginning of something. Let me know if you think I should write more...

Threshold Shift

J. Morgyn White

The San Francisco Victorian was nearly identical to the houses on each side of it, but the shingles had a gleam about them that vaguely resembled a piece of butterscotch candy glistening in the sun. You wouldn't see it unless you knew what to look for—a glimmer of energy that shouldn't be there.

I approached the steps with the caution of a hardened excavator, keeping my eyes moving so they would catch any shift. Digging demons out of walls might sound like a good time, but now I only took referrals. Honestly, I rarely answered my phone. Certain demons loved the energy traces from cellular and wifi signals and I didn't need more complications.

"Hey Marcus, thanks for coming, I didn't know who else to call." Tristan, my old college buddy, had opened the door before I could knock. He was graying around the edges now, from age, not demon possession-but weren't we all?

There wasn't any point in telling him there wasn't anyone else that could help him. The structure was bloated with energy from a hundred years of resident's lost things. With this kind of energy ready to burst, it was a clear choice of me, or buying a coffin. Maybe it's my great fashion sense, but demons seem to avoid me-mostly. Maybe they sense what I can do to them.

I stepped into the house and the rift undulated, turning the floor into a sort of gooey caramel around my handmade Italian shoes. I blinked three times and it settled down. I should have had a second espresso…
