Squirrel Alert 🐿️ + 3 Mysteries on Sale (not mine)

March 2026

What's this about a squirrel? 🐿️

That squirrel emoji has a white stripe down his back, which probably means he’s a ground squirrel. He really looks like a chipmunk to me. Below is a better image. But first, the reason I’m starting this newsletter in such a “squirrely” manner.

It’s all about a greeting card.

If you’ve read my Green Dory Inn mysteries, you know Bobby would buy this card for Roy.

A hand holding a greeting card with a picture of a squirrel staring at you, and some illustrated acorns. Text says: "Grandpa, we sure have a lot of lovable nuts in this family!"

If you don’t remember Roy’s “incident” with the squirrel, he tells the story in Hidden Secrets. Don’t have a copy handy? If your local library gives you access to the Hoopla Digital app, you can borrow the ebook for free and read it in the app. Don’t want to re-read the whole book? Just open it and search for “squirrel.” Here’s a link to Hidden Secrets at Hoopla

What’s happening with Green Dory Inn Mystery 5?

Self-edits are nearly complete. I’m at the “let’s cut some over-used words” phase, which I confess is one of my favourite parts. It should be ready in plenty of time for my editor in June.

Title… may have been decided. I’m giving myself a few more days to change my mind before I commit.

What’s this about mystery novels on sale?

I always enjoy Karin Kaufman’s writing, be it light, more intense, or for children. For the month of March, she’s offering three cozy mysteries at 99 cents (USD) each. Somehow I’d lost track of her Kelsie Butler Mystery series, so A Hint of Murder is now in my Kindle app waiting for me!
