Let me tell you about one of my favorite scenes from season 2 of Yellowjackets. 

When the ladies visit a wellness center, they’re instructed to hand over their cell phones and their immediate reaction is to resist but after being reminded that “our devices leave us captive to other people’s priorities,” it was difficult to argue.

That scene reminded me that in 2020 I was overwhelmed and overstimulated so I decided to take a step away from tech and to only answer email and text at certain times when I was able to respond. 

I turned off notifications on my cell phone and computer and turned on “do not disturb” during the times I didn’t want to be interrupted.

It was a game changer for my wellbeing.

But it wasn’t well-received by some who assumed that I should be available 24/7.

I set the boundary that I would no longer be available in this way and stuck to it for the balanced, peaceful and easeful life that I desire.
