Welcome to the September 6th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email is full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.
The Story of My Week.
The wisdom of the right community.
That is a huge blessing.
During the week, I got advice from my business coach that lined up with how God is defining my current life season.
What made the advice worth a million bucks is that it took into account the limitations I have with my time.
I have my immovable priorities. Every other demand for my time has to revolve around these.
The foundation of his advice was the need for me to do less to achieve more, even if it looks slower.
The contentment of patient growth
Patient growth that's consistent
And repeatable
Things I Learned
1 - The Power of Asking: I couldn't believe that I would struggle to make an ask.
Yes, I was meant to ask a couple of people a few questions, which could lead to a business opportunity or not.
Most of these people had long-term friendships with me.
I struggled to call them because it felt like trying to take advantage of a personal relationship.
I found out what the problem was.
I was thinking I would do the ask at the end of the conversation. That was making the conversation look like a "bait and switch". We talk, and then I make you an offer.
I changed all that.
I would let them know from the beginning how the conversation could go.
The power of asking starts with how to do the asking.
I couldn't believe I was afraid to ask because I didn't know how I should ask.
The best way to ask
That honours them and our pre-existing relationship.
2-Multiplier Actions: Not all actions are equal. Some have Multiplier impact.
They create bigger ripples.
In addition to my 8-5, I also need to grow my practice.
I can't put the same hours into both, but I have to make a success of both.
To do that for my practice, I need to choose actions that multiply my results faster.
Multiplier actions.
Not many... just a few.
I discovered the big ones and put them into gear.
I'm seeing nibbles here and there.
Multiplier actions.
Postscript
May God give you insight so you see where your efforts should be invested. Amen
