Faith & Life Lessons – January 19, 2025

image

Welcome to the January 19th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.

You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week.

This was my first week back at work.

And I think I ran my body more than I should have. I’m still feeling the pain here and there.

It’s a silent reminder that no matter the big goals I am chasing this year, I need to pace myself.

And not only that, I need to lean on my team.

Yes, I have people with whom I am working on my goals.

During the week, I came to an Eureka moment - I need more teams for my goals.

Yes, I will reach out to a few people that I want to be on the same team with.

Hopefully, we can push ourselves to achieve our goals.

Individually & Together.

It’s going to be a great year.

Things I Learnt

1 - God in the Simple Things: Over the last couple of days, God has found simple ways to remind me that even the simple things matter to him.

You know how you pray over big things and get all excited when it comes through? Well, I have been getting all giddy over God showing up in the simpler things.

Let me share one of them.

Last Sunday after Church, I suddenly couldn’t find the car tag I was given after parking my car. That’s not an easy problem - it’s the simple way I could prove that I was not stealing the car.

After many minutes of turning my car and my pockets upside down, I decided to go and report myself to the guys in charge of the car park.

Guess what?

A few meters away and there in the sand was the car tag.

It was not a coincidence to me - it was God showing up in the simple things.

Later in the week, my wife called me to say she was looking for something very important.

She was very bothered as she turned her wardrobe upside down.

Well, as we spoke, I heard God tell me “She will find out”.

She did find it or should I say “An angel placed it where she would see it after already turning her whole wardrobe all around”

Just God’s way of reminding me that not only the big stuff matters to Him.

Even the small stuff matters to Him.

2 - One Solution for One Problem: While doing a review of my activities at the office at the end of the week, I realised something I had incorporated in my approach.

A while back, I listened to an interview done with a member of Elon Musk’s inner circle.

He shares some insight about how Elon can run all his companies. Every week, he identifies the biggest problem of the week that every one of his companies has and works to fix them.

Just one problem for each company.

In solving the problem, he meets with the people on the ground who are doing the job. Not their boss or their boss’ boss.

It sounds so logical.

Looking over my week, I saw that it was the same approach I was running my teams with.

No, I wasn’t solving all their problems. I was only focused on the problems worth my attention.

For all other problems, I left with the competent team leaders or the direct staff involved.

It’s an empowering approach.

I do what they can’t do while they focus on what they can do.

Postscript

May you never forget that God is interested in the small stuff that you go through. Amen
