Welcome to the January 12th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week.
My wife and I had a heart-to-heart conversation about something God calls us to live out.
It’s a change of direction.
The thing is this - we would have preferred to follow a different direction.
But we have decided to follow this God-direction.
Both of us expressed our desire for the other direction. And our willingness to follow this new direction.
Our desires cannot be greater the God’s desire for us.
Later on, I said something else.
Let’s present to God why we like our desired direction and present these as things we would like to see in the direction that God is leading us.
Does that mean we will get them? I don’t know.
I’d rather prefer to let God be the one who decided that.
But we are committed to following the direction God is leading.
No look back.
No turning back.
Things I Learnt
1 - Protect Personal Boundaries: Someone reached out to me to show up to do a training in less than a week.
I said No.
Why?
To say Yes would be getting into my personal boundaries. Furthermore, I am not sure I would have adequate time to prepare for a great training experience for their audience.
They were not asking for a ready-to-deliver training. I was going to be developing something for them unique to their audience.
My family and I were still having our time together. I was not going to invade our time together by preparing for the training.
My role as a trainer is replaceable. My role as a father and husband is a unique one. And so I protect it by protecting my time boundaries with my family.
As much as I would love the experience of bringing change to people, I love investing in my family more.
Saying No was easy because I am committed to always saying Yes for my family.
There will be more opportunities to train people.
My personal boundaries strengthen the investments I am committed to making in my family.
2-Make Every Relationship a Great Experience: I had a meeting with someone I had not met with for about 6 - 7 years.
We had worked together on a project over 13 years ago. After the project, I kept a good relationship with him.
His relationship with the firm I worked for went sour at some point after I had left the team. But I maintained a good relationship with him.
He had called for a meeting with me this week to discuss an initiative that we were now working together on.
Our meeting was good. It felt like the years had not gone by.
The working experience we previously had was playing well and we could see the action areas to pursue to move the initiative forward.
A previous good experience will always make future collaborations easily possible.
I look forward to the impact that we can create on this initiative.
Postscript
May you work with people in a way that they will always choose to work with you again. Amen
