Welcome to the March 23rd edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week.
Over the weekend, I got a call from an old friend.
She had seen a video online which I was on and she wanted some information.
After the first part of the conversation, as she was about to close the call, I told her that I admired the family decision she had made earlier in the year.
She recently had a baby.
We did our undergraduate together.
This was her first child.
It wasn’t for lack of trying. Many years of frustration had finally been overcome.
She and her husband had their baby.
Earlier this year, she resigned from her corporate job to invest time caring for their treasure.
I celebrated the decision when she told me at the beginning of the year.
I did the same thing over the weekend…more.
I told her that I admired her for doing this.
Her decision showed she knew how to treat something precious.
I mean, someone precious, someone she had waited decades to meet.
They live in the US so I know it would be difficult to find the extended family help that comes with living in Nigeria.
She is not using that excuse to not provide the care their daughter needs.
According to her, “I have been working all these years and hoping that a baby comes, now that she is here, work can take a backseat.”
Her actions reminded me of why it is important to know how to live by season.
Every season requires different sacrifices.
Here is trusting in God to live and make the right sacrifice for each season of my life.
Things I Learnt
1 - The Power in God’s Word: I haven’t been feeling too great for about a week and a half.
I have been to the hospital twice. On both occasions, they carried out tests which showed nothing.
In simple lingo, the doctors couldn’t find anything wrong with me.
But I still wasn’t feeling well.
Over the weekend, I decided to immerse myself in God’s word.
No, it wasn’t listening to messages on healing.
I spent a lot of time listening to a series on the book of Revelations.
Something happened through it - I got better.
And don’t tell me it was a psychosomatic effect. I didn’t do the listening because I wanted to get healed.
I did it because I wanted to learn from God’s word.
The atmosphere of God’s word brought healing to my body.
I am a strong believer in this text of scripture,
My child, pay attention to what I say.
Listen carefully to my words.
Don’t lose sight of them.
Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.
Proverbs 4:20-22.
Paying attention to God’s word brings healing and health to us.
And it doesn’t have to be God’s word on healing.
Thank God, I’m better now.
2 - Decisions Driven by Purpose not Reason: I attended a meeting where a team presented a proposal for review.
When the final decision was been made, it was clear that the choice was not driven by reason or logic.
It was driven by a different purpose in the room.
The interesting thing is that facts were arranged to support the purpose.
I smiled.
It just reaffirmed one of my biggest reasons for avoiding most arguments.
People make emotional decisions and rearrange facts to support their decisions.
This saves me a lot of headaches.
I don’t fight emotions.
It’s the un-winnable position.
And so I watch.
It is better to reason with people who are willing to consider reason.
Other times, peace reigns when you let people continue to live by the choice that gives them emotional satisfaction.
Postscript
May you live to make the sacrifice necessary to shine in every season of life. Amen
