Welcome to the September 7th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week.
This was a great week.
Why?
I tried new things, I discovered new things, and I grew in confidence.
Did I achieve everything I wanted?
No.
But I am making progress, progress in the things that matter.
I saw new opportunities open for me.
A part of me wonders how I am going to carry everything.
Another part of me is excited to see how God will evolve everything.
I am committed to working like everything rests on my effort, but I will trust God like everything depends on His ability to create results.
The balance of these two is how I want to stand out.
I want to work because I see God at work.
September is going to be an interesting month - I am going to be starting new things and perhaps…stopping some old things.
I will trust and I will work.
Things I Learnt
1-Found for my Work: I attended two events over the weekend, and it was interesting to meet people who are offering me opportunities to speak at their event or teach on their platform.
How did they find me?
They found me through some of my work - writing and teaching online.
What they saw and read convinced them enough to believe that I was the man to work with them.
I like this sort of situation.
Situations where my work is the calling card for others to reach out to me.
It’s better to be called for the value I bring rather than as an act of tokenism.
And I will continue to get better at pushing value out.
So that it opens doors to people who need these higher values.
2- Remain Humble: Someone asked me to work with him on a series of teachings to help Gen Z career professionals. He said this group had peculiar challenges. We should discuss this further in the coming week.
This is not the first time I have heard this sort of “Tola, you have what is so relevant to the Gen Z” conversation.
While sharing the whole thing with my wife, I told her that I have not had any issues with the Gen Zs I work with.
She said something that reminded me of the need to remain humble in my estate.
After our conversation, I went through my work and realised I don’t work day-to-day with Gen Zs. My senior team leads do that. They only escalate issues they can’t deal with to me.
I had one recently. The team lead told me she wasn’t getting through to this staff. So, she asked me to step in.
I won’t go into the details of everything I discussed with the staff, but the end zone was the decision she was making, which her team lead believed was sub-optimal.
I agreed with that assessment, but I wasn’t going to push it.
I simply asked the staff a question, “Between choice A and B, which one would you regret the most if things don’t work out the way you planned?”
That settled for her.
It’s not me.
God helps with the wisdom. And I show up at the moment when they need it.
But it isn’t me.
I am staying humble.
And stay liquid.
Postscript
May you find heavenly wisdom to help you in the difficult decisions you have to make. Amen
