Welcome to the August 24th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week.
This was a great week.
It was great because of how much I pushed myself.
You might wonder, “Why are you pushing yourself if you just came back from resting due to ill health?” “Shouldn’t you be taking it easy?”
My answer - Yes & No.
Yes to aligned rest with organised result result-focused work.
No to casualness.
I will not run the horse to the ground.
I will keep the horse strong to ensure I run all journey points strongly.
I have a responsibility for the message and the horse.
I will not forget that.
The message requires urgency.
The horse requires care.
I will not forget these.
I will live with urgency and care.
For all times.
Things I Learnt
1 - Deliver Workplace Bad News With Care: One of the things about leading teams is that there are times when you have to deliver bad news about a team member’s performance.
It’s never easy.
But it is easier if you have been delivering the message piecemeal over an appraisal period.
It ensures that the appraisal is not a shocker.
This was what I had been doing most of the period. It makes our appraisal discussions less uncomfortable.
One thing I also did was to make the appraisal forward-thinking. I put in an initial thought for a plan to address some of the challenges identified.
And it worked. The staff could see that the direction of the whole appraisal experience was aimed at adding value on not holding back.
This approach works
2 - How and When God Says Yes: A few weeks ago, I wrote about some of the big ideas I had on ways to leverage the knowledge and skills God has given me.
God said “No” to all the ideas I came up with.
This week, I came up with a few more new ideas.
God said “Yes” to these.
Interestingly, the changes in the first set were not so much. But it seems like the little tweaks mean more to God enough for Him to hold me back earlier.
Additionally, I got a rebuke on how I was handling some of the other areas He had given to me.
I am grateful for the guidance and the rebuke.
Postscript
May you be humble to receive God’s guidance & rebuke in all areas of your life. Amen
