Welcome to the February 2nd edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week.
My birthday was during the week.
My team surprised me by making a little celebration out of it.
They got cake and bought a gift for me.
It was emotional for me.
The height of the emotions was in the gift.
A day before my birthday, I had thought to myself “I think I need to buy another shoe.”
No, I’m not a shoe addict and neither do I indulge myself like sneakerheads.
Based on just a regular assessment, I felt I needed to buy a new shoe.
A desire in my heart shared with no one.
A day later, God inspired a member of my team to choose a pair of shoes as a gift for me.
I was emotional because of the care that God has for me.
He listened to an unspoken desire in my heart and got my team to fulfil it.
I am grateful to God and my team.
I sent them a message to say that much. I also got the opportunity to tell them all face-to-face a day later during a team meeting.
I even told them the story behind wanting to buy a pair of shoes a day earlier. That was when they pointed to the brain behind the choice of the birthday gift.
Telling them the story, helped them to see how much I appreciate their gesture.
God is at work through the people around us to meet the desires in our hearts.
Things I Learnt
1 - Help for any Dream: I reached out to an old friend for help on something I was trying to get done.
He agreed to help. And he did it in a few hours.
It wasn’t a huge thing.
The huge thing was the reminder that there is always help around the corner for any dream.
If we have the courage to ask…and keep asking until we get the help.
Until a few years back, I didn’t have use to ask people for help.
Why?
Because I always found a way to do it all by myself.
During a training I attended, one of the assignments was to ask people for help.
Yes, I had to ask people for help for something that I did not desperately need. But asking them was the main task.
Guess what? Everyone I asked said “Yes”.
That was the moment that it broke for me.
I gained the courage and mastery to ask. Even for things that I could do for myself.
Why?
Because asking others means I now have the time and resources to do other things if they accept to do what I ask.
Or it could just be a case of getting it done better through them.
2 - Faith in the Promise: I had an Eureka moment in my faith walk during the week.
It was the satisfaction of being satisfied with the power of God’s promise.
We all have those moments - God makes a promise to us about certain events in our lives.
We get excited when things start aligning to the promise that we have received from God.
Well, I am embracing the joy of being satisfied with that promise, not in the events aligning to see its fulfilment.
Yes, I am taking action to see it fulfilled. But my joy is not in the actions or in the events that are encouraging me.
It is in the promise.
The Psalmist wrote, “I rejoice in your word like one who discovers a great treasure.” (Psalm 119:162). This is the joy I want to live under.
The joy of finding that promise and knowing that the promise fulfils itself. Not my best efforts.
A case of “Abraham believed and it was credited to him as righteousness” (Genesis 15:6) moment for me.
On Sunday, I went out for Thanksgiving because “I rejoice in the word He has given me like one who discovers great treasure”.
It’s not a mental assertion.
It is faith in knowing that I have found great treasure.
Postscript
May you live with the courage to take the next step to get you closer to the dreams God has planted in you. Amen
