Welcome to the September 28th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week.
Recall the part of Samuel’s story that I shared last week, which I wanted to live out?
Well, I lived it out.
God did not let my word fall to the ground.
He worked out everything so that I could meet up to do all that I promised.
This is the path of living my faith.
Living by faith and doing things the way God wants them to be done.
That kind of living allows God to uphold commitments that I make.
Why?
Because when I make those commitments, I am making things on behalf of Him since I am living to matter to Him.
I want to pursue this kind of life.
And live all my life.
In honour and glory of His Name
Things I Learnt
1-Make the Difficult Decisions Fast: I like taking bets on people. This is because, now and again, people will surprise me by performing well beyond my expectations of them.
Well, there are times that people may not live up to the “bet”.
Like I have recently.
I took a bet on someone that he could reach a zenith. 3 months into a 6-month trial period, I could see this was not going to work out.
I decided not to wait for the 6 months. I cut short the trial period immediately.
Someone asked me why I didn’t give the remaining 3 months’ run room.
Well, what I saw in the first 3 months showed a lot of human damage along the way. When other people are getting stressed and overwhelmed, it might be time to pull the plug.
Furthermore, I saw something more.
The ability to perform at the next level is a combination of capacity and capability.
You build capacity first before you build capability.
My bet was not building capacity, and it was showing. More time would be needed to do that. Time which was not available.
By making this decision to cut short the trial period for the new role, I was giving my “bet” the opportunity to build capacity and capability without the pressure of performing in a new role.
But I was pulling away from this current opportunity.
For the greater good.
2- HisStory not My Story: Someone at work asked me why I had made some career choices.
This person is a Christian. So, I told her, “I’ll give you a fuller response because you are a Christian and can understand a bit of the context I will share.”
I make my career choices on the premise that my life is being used to write “His Story”, not “My Story.”
This is a strong contrast for me.
I choose career choices that honour Him through me.
Even if they look dumb at first glance.
I have people who have done that before to encourage me and keep me on the straight & narrow.
Abraham left Ur, a place with houses and indoor plumbing, to go and live the rest of his life in tents.
He was writing a part in God’s Story.
As so am I.
I am writing with my life, God’s Story.
His Story.
Postscript
May you live each day to write a part of God’s story. Amen
