Welcome to the May 25th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week.
On Sunday, I preached my last sermon at our Church in Senegal.
I’m also stepping down from being a member of the leadership team.
It’s part of one of those life transitions that I have had to make now and again.
Our family starts another series of life adventures.
It never gets easier.
We say goodbye to friends and relationships now important to us.
We are not sure if we will get to see ourselves anymore.
But we are grateful for the time we had to spend together.
I am always grateful for the family I have. We have been through different seasons and emotional journeys together.
I am confident in God’s ability to build His kingdom in us and through us as He spreads the fragrance of His kingdom through the experiences we have had to live.
Starting another chapter in God’s storybook for us.
Things I Learnt
1 - When God Stops You Knowing: There is a story in the Bible about Elisha and a Shunammite woman whom he prophesied would have a son.
She did, and years later, after the boy had grown older, he suddenly died.
The woman rushes to Elisha and falls at his feet, refusing to let go. Elisha’s servant tries to push her away. It is at this point that Elisha speaks, “Leave her alone! She is in bitter distress, but the Lord has hidden it from me and has not told me why.”
I had a bit of a “God-Hiding-Stuff-In-Front-Of-You” moment this week.
I only saw it after I had attended to something else, which I guess was more important at that time to Him.
Here is the story.
I was scheduled to fly by 6 pm on an international flight. It was a return trip. I got a text message from the airline about a change in the flight. For some strange reason, I understood the change as affecting my outbound trip.
Instead of flying at 6 pm, I would now be flying at 11 pm…or so I thought.
Based on that, I agreed to speak at an office presentation to talk about a product. After I finished the presentation and was going to head out to the airport, I realized that my flight was still at 6 pm and I had just about 2 hours and 45 minutes to the flight departure time.
Miracles still happen. The road was traffic-free - a huge blessing on that day, and I made my flight.
God “closed” my eyes from seeing the fight change. Would you believe that I not only reviewed the text message but also reviewed the email from the airline? And I didn’t see it differently.
It was only after the presentation that “my eyes opened.”
God hides and He reveals.
In His Time.
2 - Integrity in the Small Details: One of our kids had a recital over the weekend. Something impressed me about the whole event.
The organizer, our kid’s piano teacher said it would start by 5:30 pm, and true it started at exactly that time.
A week before the event, she had sent the program of events to all her students so everyone knew when they were performing.
If you arrive later than your time, you are skipped and moved down. No waiting for you. It showed she respected everyone’s time.
A complete departure from an event I was asked to speak at.
The event started more than 2 hours after its scheduled time.
It said a lot about them.
In the same way, my child’s teacher, who started the recital on time, told me something about her.
A little something called integrity.
We all should have it.
Postscript
May you have eyes that see the most important matters of today clearly. Amen
