Welcome to the May 11th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week.
During the week, I reached out to my business coach. I had been a bit underwater.
I was explaining some of the challenges I was facing, keeping my head afloat.
Interesting, I did something that I told some of my coaching clients not to indulge in.
I explained the whole situation in a way that it seemed all the problems were coming from somewhere far away from me.
My coach caught me.
He reminded me that the problem was me. Add to that, some of the problems I highlighted were things I had raised a while back.
The problem is me.
My week didn’t stop there.
God told me, “I have called you to run, not run fast.”
Yes, I need to keep running. That’s the mission. Not trying to run fast and burn out fast.
So, I’m just focused on running.
I’ll keep running
Things I Learnt
1-The Value of Lived Experiences: During separate conversations in the week, I could see great value in some of the lived professional experiences I have had.
Both of them want to carry out major projects in an industry I have worked in for a bit.
I have more than theoretical knowledge.
I have lived experiences of similar projects.
They were willing to lean on it.
I’m seeing a bit of this happen now and again.
Our lived experiences are not just for us - they are for others to climb on our shoulders to rise up. Faster.
2-The Sacredness of God: Over the past years, I have lived more in non-English speaking countries. This means the churches I have been part of are like outposts to serve the English-speaking communities in these countries.
This means most of the churches I have been part of are usually lacking in the bells and whistles that come with most modern-day churches.
Recently, as my work has taken me to more English-speaking countries.
The effect is that I have also been attending churches with more bells and whistles.
Something has surprised me in all of it.
Now and again, I would see people bring out their phones in church, record themselves singing, or the worship leader singing. I sat beside a guy who was tweeting as the pastor was preaching - no, I don’t think he was part of the church’s media team.
I grew up under the concept that you needed to honor the “God of the House” when you are in the house of God.
One of the ways of doing that was to make the “God of the House” the center of attention.
I am not saying that these people are not honoring the “God of the House.”
I just wish we could remove our distractions.
Now and again, I keep my focus on the object of why I am in church.
I remind myself, the more I honor the “God of the House”, the more I get closer to Him.
The more I get closer to Him, the more I know His ways.
The more I know His ways, the more I respond to life the way He wants me to.
Postscript
May you live every day in a way that honors God. Amen
