Faith In The Arena: No More Sidelines | Faith & Life Lessons

image

Welcome to the January 18th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.

You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

Howdy ,

This week, God pressed more into my heart: no more sidelines.

So I responded the only way I know how; prayer, fasting, and action.

Here’s what I learned as I stepped into the arena for 2026.

The Story of My Week.

I started the work of going deeper on myself for setting myself up for a great 2026.

Monday - Wednesday, I went on a 3-day full fast…no food, just water.

Fasting & praying because 2026 demands more from me.

I heard, I prepared and I worked.

Later during the week, I was part of a mastermind meeting with my spiritual director. When I was asked what my prayer points was, I had just one.

A prayer for the gift of faith.

Why?

Because there are big ideas for 2026. It’s not a year for small things. There are big things, big opportunities to serve people at a bigger level.

Serve my family in a bigger way, serve the people around me in bigger ways, and being on the lookout for bigger goals.

God is still talking. I don’t know the full depth and breadth of all He has for me in 2026.

But I am not going to stand on the sidelines waiting to find out.

I am jumping into the arena.

This is going to be a pivotal year for me.

Things I Learnt

1-Taking Action on Goals: I moved one of my 2026 ideas to action. I plan to release a podcast in 2026. During the week, I planned the first season of the podcast.

More than planning it, I moved to execution. I recorded the first half of the first season of the podcast. It’s progress but it is not complete.

To complete it would be to publish it.

And that’s what I hope to do on February 1, 2026. Release it to the world.

This goal is only complete when it starts to serve people.

And that is the big thing I am focused on in 2026. Making sure my goals are tied to service to people.

And getting the outcomes of my goals to people.

2-When God Speaks to Heal: On Friday, I had a huge muscle sprain on my leg. It was a huge pain. I used analgesic cream to massage it, I put ice on it and still it kept the hurt.

I prayed and heard one thing, “use paracetamol”.

Interesting thing happened. I couldn’t find the pack of paracetamol we had in the house.

After dinner, I remembered I had a sachet of paracetamol I carry in the bag I take to work.

I took the tablets and immediately, the pain stopped. Not later, immediately.

It’s the kind of stuff you see on TV commercials. You take the pills and the pain disappears instantly.

This is not TV, this obedience to God on show. The whole experience reminded me of a few things.

One, God is involved in the simple every day aspects of life

Two, God expects obedience for us to see Him work differently in our lives.

Three, obedience to God will always bring its reward for us.

I’ll be doing a lot of this in 2026.

Postscript

May you live in daily obedience to God so you see Him more at work in your life. Amen
