Faith & Life Lessons – April 27, 2025

image

Welcome to the April 27th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.

You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week.

One of the high points of my week was meeting up with my pastor in Senegal.

We haven’t had a meet-up for a while. I’ve been on the road, and he also had to take some time off.

It was great to tell me about all the stuff that God had been working out in both my personal and professional life.

Even better was it to listen to wise counsel from an experienced older man

Listening to him share his lived experiences of walking with God and how they align with my current spiritual and life journey warmed my heart.

I am grateful to God for the blessing of learning from him.

Thank you, God, for him.

Things I Learnt

1. The Joy of old friendships: I attended the 50th birthday of an old classmate of mine.

It turned out to be a reunion of sorts. Some I had not seen in almost 30 years, and others for almost 20 years.

There was no air of pretense - no one pretended to be who they were not.

We were happy to be catching up.

There is a unique connection to meeting up with people who knew you when you had nothing to prove, to show who you are.

We still carry all those old memories of how we were.

They are not layered with who we have become and are still becoming.

Old friendships can be refreshing.

We still remain committed, however, we can be to each other.

In ways that are supportive and not overwhelming to ourselves

2-God in the simple things: over the weekend, I made an international flight.

Before leaving for the airport, I weighed my luggage and saw that I was a few kilograms above the free limit.

I had prepared to pay for the excess.

On my way to the airport, God told me I would not have to pay.

When I got to the airport, the guys at the check-in point said one of my luggage - my guitar in the guitar bag qualified as equipment that I could take on board as carry-on luggage.

With that out of the way, the excess I had was minimal, which they decided I didn’t need to pay for.

This is not the first time I’ve heard stuff like this. I’ve learned not to worry myself and just watch things play out.

I see it as God’s way of deepening my confidence in hearing His voice to follow Him in more challenging circumstances.

God was saying, “You hear me in the small stuff, you can hear me in the big stuff.”

A faith life to continue to grow in.

Postscript

May you consistently build relationships that help you win at work and in life. Amen
