Unless you have been ignoring some of my emails, you probably know that I recently wrote and published a book.
No, this is not a sales pitch for the book "Winning Beyond Borders: Achieving Success at Work in a New Country"
It's about a little something that comes with writing a book.
Not everything makes it into the published version of a book. Some things drop off at different stages during the writing and editing.
One of the things I didn't include in the book was the emotional background that existed in the office I was moving to in Spain.
The Spanish company was a new acquisition, and the owners had sent me there to help with the integration of the existing business with the acquired business.
You can imagine showing up and the team already saw you as "The Corporate Spy Who Works With Us"
But I was able to get us past that...and quickly too.
I became known for my work - not for the perception that preceded me joining the team.
How I did that is not the stuff of dreams.
It's learnable and practical to implement.
