Faith & Life Lessons | God of the Road Travelled

image

Welcome to the August 2nd edition of Faith & Life Lessons.

You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week.

I ran into a few people living on the road I did not travel. They are living different lives from the one I am living.

A part of me wonders, "What could have become of me if I had taken this road?"

It's been a while since I reminisced on the road not travelled. It can bite, especially when it seems like those on the other road are doing better.

Better in terms of what I see and what others probably see.

I decided to remind myself. I did not choose the road I travelled. God marked it for me, and I choose to walk in it.

I think about Abraham following God's call to leave his home and family to go on a road less travelled.

By that decision, he lived in tents all his life while the people he left behind lived in homes built with brick and clay. Yes, he left behind sophisticated Mesopotamian cities featuring brick, clay, and stone structures.

The wealthier homes in ancient Mesopotamian cities like Ur even had early forms of indoor plumbing and sanitation systems.

While they were not identical to modern pressurised water systems, it was highly advanced for their time and provided comforts that were completely lost when Abraham transitioned to living in tents.

On the road less travelled.

Learning from Abraham.

Reminding myself that this is not my story…this is God's story.

He writes His page and chapter through my life.

My joy is not what I get. It is what God gets through my life. The more He gets, the more my reward is in His kingdom.

I am not only living for the now.

I am living for the sweet bye and bye.

Things I Learned

1-Never Lost: Over the past week, I have had to deal with a lot, and as a result, I could not give my time to some of the opportunities that opened up for me.

I was already resigned to the fact that some of these opportunities were gone.

Well, that's until God encouraged me to let me know that none of these opportunities is lost.

The reason why?

According to Him, He opened those opportunities, and He has not closed the doors.

I am staying up late tonight and reaching out about these opportunities.

Opportunities don't come once. In my world of God's abundance, opportunities come and stay as long as God keeps them open.

And these are still open for me.

2-Relationships for the Season: During the week, I had a meeting with a group I am part of.

At some point in the meeting, it was clear that we were the right relationships for ourselves for this season of life.

The interesting thing is that most of us just got to know ourselves in March this year.

Yep, we formed just a few months ago.

But we have been bonded.

This is what it means for God to prepare us ahead of what we will face.

I am grateful for my band of relationships.

Relationships for this season.

Postscript

May your eyes be open to the relationships God is bringing to you. Amen
