Welcome to the October 5th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week.
One of the unusual things that I had to do this week was to be part of the recording of a podcast as a guest.
When they finished my session, someone in the studio remarked that I was always using stories to highlight any point I was making. I guess it was a surprise that I had that many stories.
Life is lived in prose, not in bullet points. And we can only see the narrative structure if we are paying attention.
I try to do that. I always remind myself that I have two ears and one mouth.
I need to observe and take in more than I give out. But I am not a passive observer.
I am fully engaged with the events I am observing. This is probably why I see the stories and can share them when the moment calls for them.
Every day, I’m collecting stories. In some, I am the main actor, in some others, I’m just a supporting actor, while for some others, I am a non-playing character.
And I am actively engaging with the stories as they evolve.
Things I Learnt
1-Losing a fight Without Losing Momentum: Now and again, there are fights that I lose at work.
It’s part of working. I can’t win every fight every day.
The bigger thing is learning to take a loss without losing momentum.
Yes, remaining committed to a goal when a bit of the sting has been taken out, but it is a differentiation for driving consistent progress.
I had to take one of those this week.
I remind myself to never stop hoping for the best, even in a loss.
2-Showing up for myself, Even When Others Don’t Show Up for Themselves: During the week, I facilitated a training session.
It was a paid training.
But guess what, at the time the training was meant to start, no one else had arrived.
I did the most important thing - show up for myself. And the integrity of my commitment.
I started the training when I was meant to start. I was already 12-14 minutes into the training before my paid audience joined me. They joined me where I was in the training.
I didn’t go back. They could catch that on the replay.
I am showing up for myself. I am keeping my commitment to myself. I had committed to the time I would start, and so I started at that time.
I am also creating a culture around me. A culture that I hope people who come into my orbit come to respect.
These are lessons I am trying to live out from and that I have discovered with God.
Everyone claims to be friends with God, but only God know who His true friends are.
These are the ones who respect God’s Word and the value of everything He says.
I want my inner circle to be made up of people like that.
Postscript
May live your life in integrity to your highest values that celebrate the character of God. Amen
