How To Calm a Frazzled Mind in Under Ten Minutes

Hello there!
I hope this email finds you well, wherever you may be in this big, wide, world of ours.
I wonder, do you ever feel your mind racing, thoughts tumbling around in a mad scramble, worrying about how you're going to get one child to an appointment that just had to fall on school pick up time, what to do with the other kids, if you can slip away a little early from the office to make this all work and what the heck are you going to get together for dinner?!?!
Phew.
As Mums, we hold SO MUCH in our heads, that it's no wonder we end up feeling frazzled and overwhelmed. When your mind is spinning, what can you do to help slow your mind a little and think a little more clearly?
One way is to engage your five senses.
So, it looks like this:
Name (you can do this in your head or out loud) and truly notice
- five things you can see
- three things you can feel
- two things you can hear
- one thing you can smell
- can you taste anything right now?
This lets your mind focus on the physical reality around you, bringing you back to the present moment, instead of being caught in the whirlwind of your unconscious thoughts.
You can do this practice throughout the day, whenever you need it.
