Hey , how's it going?

Quick one from me.

A question, an anecdote, an action.

Please give this a minute to get through - it's (more) important.

1. A question.

Firstly - how're these emails going?

I started a mailing list to drip feed some ideas I have to you.

I want you to live a more deliberate life.

You have a lot of potential,

- I don't want you to waste it.

So the emails I've been writing are to help you fix that.

We've covered hydration, sleep routines, presence and hard exercise so far.

Hopefully you find them useful? (Either way, please read to the bottom of this email).

We've only scratched the surface.

2. An analogy.

You've likely heard that:

If you drop a frog into very hot water, it will jump out.
But if you place it in cold water and heat it up, it will boil to death.

Like many good stories in our shared culture, (sadly) it's not actually true.

However, we all understand what it means.

In a sense, it's 'fictionally true'

So let's work with that.

Imagine a much younger version of yourself.

Picture a Freaky Friday or 13 going on 30 scenario.

If you took your X year-old self, in frog form, and dropped them into your life - your water.
Are they jumping out, or are they chilling?

Yes, the water is your health, your career, your relationships: your LIFE.

And ultimately the question is: has life slowly started to heat you up - so slowly - that you've not really noticed.

What the question isn't saying:

  • Is your life perfect?
  • Is your life exactly what you've always planned?

Or even

  • Is your life as good as someone else you know?

No doubt it's full of ups and downs, good and bad, hots and colds...

But overall, would a younger you think:

"Oh my, I never thought I'd be this stressed, this lonely, this unhealthy, drink this much wine."

Or even.

"Oh wow, I can't believe I've met such a perfect partner, found my dream job, achieved so much, am still so fit..."

This is a provocative question.

For you.

Because you're the only person listening to your answer.

The question then is:

If you'd be sure as f@@k to jump out of your water as soon as your froggy legs touched it, what can you do about that?

And the answer, of course, is start being more deliberate.

Because it's those quiet 'default' decisions that have let the water temperature climb.

  • It's your pints every Thursday, Friday, Saturday that have given you the belly fat.
  • It's your standing still on the tube escalator that's left you out of breath climbing your stairs at home.
  • It's your late night TV that keeps you from getting your 8 hours sleep.
  • It's your lack of sleep that keep you from eating healthy.
  • It's your lack of healthy eating that makes you tired.
  • It's your tiredness that gets you back to being stuck on the sofa.
  • It's your vaping...
  • It's your spending...
  • It's your addiction to drama...
  • It's your addiction to porn
  • It's your addiction to your phone.

Etc. Etc.

The good news is...

They're your decisions.

You can turn the stove down.

These emails are here to remind you to check the water.

To even give you the tools to cool it down.

We don't want your lovely body all boiled up do we?

So - last bit.

3. An action.

I'd love to hear back from you.

This is the early days.
