Hey,

Crazy week at Hoopsfix HQ - most notably because we lost a headline sponsor for the summer league at super late notice last week and are now scrambling to see whether we can make it happen and not cancel it. Not how I want to be spending my time, and not something I would usually go public with, but desperate times call for desperate measures! The venue we were going to use is trying to charge £216 per hour (making a 1 day a week 5 week booking over £15k!), and so we're trying to cut costs dramatically by finding a cheaper venue - not easy to do with 5 weeks notice, especially when we require a weekend day and need the whole day!

🇬🇧 BBL & WBBL Playoff Final this Sunday at the O2!

Not quite sure how it is the end of the season already, but make sure you're at the O2 arena this Sunday (May 14) for the culmination of the British basketball season as we have a Leicester vs London double! Give me a shout if you're gonna be around and want to say hi!

🎥 How Milton Keynes' Jeremy Sochan made the NBA

Love this BBC Sport feature on Jeremy Sochan - it is crazy just how far he has come and it is awesome to see a player we've all grown up watching now taking centre stage in the big league! He was named to the NBA All-Rookie second team earlier this week - the future is bright!

👏 Lions sign Dekker & Sharma to multi-year deals

Can something be a shocker and a no-brainer at the same time?! Shocking because it's so rare we see multi-year deals in the BBL, and a no-brainer because why wouldn't you try to get Dekker particularly in on a multi-year deal - arguably the highest level player to ever play in the BBL(?!). Have always felt Dekker has been a great ambassador for the league and advocate for British basketball - he has spoken like he has the intention of hanging around, so it's awesome that pen has been put to paper. Huge news for the league. On the topic of the league, check out this snippet from CEO Aaron Radin talking at SportsPro Live the other week.
