3-Point Thursday #216

Hey,

This week's 3-pointer:

🎙 Podcast: James Merchant

Really enjoyed this week's podcast - am becoming more and more fascinated in the behind the scenes of British basketball; the clubs, the organisations, how they work and what they are doing. What James is building with the Richmond Knights is seriously impressive and a model that should be more widely replicated.

💷 Basketball gets £4m

Finally (!) the sport has *some* confirmation on the money it is going to receive to deal with the fallout from COVID-19 - though there still seems to be some confusion about the split between grants and loans, as well as clubs needing to go through their own application process to access the funds, potentially meaning even more of a delay. I know for some clubs, they are running out of time to get the money clear in their bank account...

🇬🇧 GB Women win, initial men's squad out

The Senior Women picked up a comfortable win against Poland at the weekend, improving to 2-1 in their quest for EuroBasket qualification - nice interview with Cheridene Green here. Meanwhile, the initial 24-man Senior men's squad is out, with first call ups for teenage phenom Cameron Hildreth along with Eagles' Rex Pflueger - wouldn't read too much into the squad list, the BBF are required to submit a 24-man list to FIBA, and would expect only 13 of those to go into camp - am told many of those on the list won't have even been contacted, whilst others (like Sacha Killeya Jones and Andrew Lawrence) are injured and unable to suit up.

That wraps up another drop, as always, hit reply with any thoughts, questions or anything else!

With gratitude,

Sam
