3-Point Thursday #300
Nov 17, 2022 12:24 pm
Hey,
Newsletter 300! Approaching 6 years worth of doing this thing, appreciate you sticking with us all this time!
Anyway, this week's 3-pointer:
Was good to shake off the rust and get a podcast done with Tosan Evbuomwan this week - the unanimous Ivy League Player of the Year is in London next week for the London Basketball Classic; make sure you get your tickets if you haven't already, it's due to be a good'n! Tosan's career trajectory has been quite something, and it was good to dive deeper on it with him - one to watch!
The Regal basketball court has 8 days left of its crowdfunding campaign to fix its god-awful floor that has dead spots all over it, and they need another £4k to hit their £20k target. We're all aware of the issues with the Regal (namely, the low roof), but it still an integral part of the London basketball community and provides free basketball for thousands of players every year. The floor is on the verge of becoming a legit health and safety hazard and needs sorting; if you are able to donate, and/or can share the crowdfunding campaign with your network to help it reach the target, it would be hugely appreciated!
🇬🇧 GB Senior Men World Cup hopes dashed
GB's hopes for World Cup 2023 qualification were ended on Friday night with a loss to Serbia in Newcastle, and then followed it up with a defeat to Latvia on Monday. With one more window to play for pride, it'll be interesting to see who continues to suit up, and whether or not new BBF Chair Chris Grant can drive some change and buy in to a new vision for the organisation. Meanwhile, the women's 15-player squad has been announced for the upcoming EuroBasket 2023 qualifiers.
That wraps up another week, as always, hit reply with any thoughts, questions or anything else,
With gratitude,
Sam
