3-Point Thursday #252
Aug 14, 2021 12:55 am
Hey,
Almost forgot this week, but would it be 3-point Thursday if it wasn't a Friday?! Prepping for Ball Out finals this weekend - maybe see you there if you make it down!
Anyway, this week's 3-pointer:
After a 2 month or so hiatus, the pod is back as we explore what has been happening down in Gloucester with Jay Marriott, the new CEO of Gloucester Sport as they prepare for their maiden WBBL season, with plans for a BBL franchise next season. Let me know your thoughts, along with any guest suggestions as I line up the next few weeks of programming!
🩱 Plymouth rebrand to Patriots
The Plymouth franchise revealed their new name and look this week, as the Plymouth City Patriots become the newest name in the league. From my understanding, it is an entirely new company (and in which case, seems to be more of a new franchise than a rebrand of the old one) that has been set up after a dispute with the previous owners of the Raiders - doing some digging here to find out a bit more of the ins and outs of it all...
🦁 London Lions confirm stacked WBBL roster
As Hoopsfix first reported, the Lions have confirmed the signings of Jo Leedham, Azania Stewart, and Holly Winterburn, along with the addition of Leah McDerment. Huge for the team, huge for the WBBL, huge for the British game in general. As I tweeted earlier tonight, any team with the budget should start with looking to bring British stars home - this is a roster that any British basketball follower will be a huge fan of!
That wraps up another drop, as always, hit reply with any thoughts, questions or anything else!
With gratitude,
Sam
P.S. Still recruiting a final board member for the Hoopsfix Foundation - if you know of a female with extensive experience in the media/comms/pr world who might be interested, please put them in touch!
