3-Point Thursday #251
Aug 06, 2021 3:39 am
Hey,
Good evening to ya! Have just got down to Eastbourne for a few days for some family stuff, but meanwhile basketball never stops...
This week's 3-pointer:
The plan was to get a pro-am off the ground this summer, and a junior summer league, but coming out of COVID, timelines were too tight, and scheduling just didn't work. Still wanted to do *something* - and we tipped it off with a closed door, invite-only run for pros in and around London at CoLA tonight. It was awesome to catch up and see some guys I've not seen in years, and as I always say - also a good reminder that real world stuff always trumps online! Also a learning opportunity for me, and - if all goes to plan - helps prep things nicely for a big summer in '22!
Plymouth will have a BBL franchise for the upcoming 2021/22 season after all, it turns out. Following the club’s announcement they are withdrawing earlier this month, local Plymouth businessman, and club sponsor Carl Heslop, has stepped forward and reached an agreement with BBL to take on the franchise. Huge news - though it does seem like they may take on a new name with no references to the Raiders anywhere in the communications.
📝Signings
Bunch of signings at the moment - Jordan Spencer back to London as they've added a big signing in Jordan Williams too, Akwasi Yeboah staying in France, with Luke Nelson and Deane Williams joining him, whilst Manchester have re-signed their Brit trio and added Jamell Anderson and Josh Steel to the mix. Meanwhile, Chantelle Handy has inked herself a nice deal to play in Euroleague Women next season.
That wraps up another drop, as always, hit rely with any thoughts, questions or anything else!
With gratitude,
Sam
