3-Point Thursday #250
Jul 29, 2021 11:17 pm
Hey,
Where are my weeks going?! Time is flying. One productive thing we've achieved is upgrading the hosting on the site, so it should be a little faster (I hope!)...got back to London on Monday, still in recovery from looking after nephews, but looking ahead to the next few weeks as the season fast approaches!
This week's 3-pointer:
⭕️ Olympics Basketball Schedule & Where to Watch
The Olympics is officially underway and despite no GB teams, most UK hoops fans will be (should be) trying to tune into some of it (note former England U18 and Manchester Magic big man Aaron Geramipoor suiting up for Iran!). The schedule with UK tip times is at the link above, whilst the best option is EuroSport player - I would recommend doing it direct through the Discovery website and not Amazon Prime, as a few people have reported awful user experience through Amazon.
🦁 Lions making WBBL power moves
The London Lions WBBL side are now confirmed in the EuroCup Women qualifiers, which is the first women's side to venture into Europe since the 2006-7 season. But in perhaps bigger news, their roster is looking s-t-a-c-k-e-d, as they are agreeing deals with Jo Leedham, Azania Stewart and Holly Winterburn. Huge news for the game here, and demonstrative that new owners 777 partners are very serious about making moves, with the deep pockets to match!
For some Thursday night viewing, check out this documentary from Sky Sports NBA presenter Mo Mooncey and Laurence McKenna on the rise of Zion Williamson and his influence on the growth of basketball in the UK. There's a lot of familiar faces from the UK hoops scene, and it is super well produced.
That wraps up another drop, as always hit reply with any thoughts, questions or anything else!
With gratitude,
Sam
