3-Point Thursday #249

Jul 23, 2021 2:10 am

Hey,

I feel like I am just coming out of the other side of what has been a nuts month and can finally breathe a little again - only to be rewarded with babysitting my 3 and 6 year old nephews for 3 days. Basketball events - no problem - young children, different kettle of fish!

This week's 3-pointer:

🪐Foot Locker x Space Jam: A New Legacy Tournament

After touching down from the U19 World Cup in Latvia, all my attentions moved to Ducketts Common for two days of activity on behalf of Foot Locker for the launch of Space Jam: A New Legacy. We had a day of clinics with the NBA on Friday with local schools, another 90 minute clinic for 40 players on Saturday morning with skill development coaches, before two four-team tournaments for U18 Men and Men. It was another reminder that as much as I love digital/online, nothing compares to bringing people together in person- sunshine, music, hoops - it doesn't get better! I love this game.

🛍First official NBA store in UK opens

The first official NBA store has opened in Carnaby, London - and has got the fans buzzing; resulting in our most liked instagram post ever. Was lucky enough to get invited down on Tuesday and check it out - check the post for the full video of what they have in store!

📈We're recruiting (female) board members!

We are levelling up the Hoopsfix Foundation this summer, and as result are looking for two female board members, ideally with expertise in technology/software, and media, comms & PR. If you are passionate about impacting communities through basketball and think you potentially fit the bill, or know someone who does, or believe you can add value in other areas, please don't hesitate to contact me! The ad will be posted on Hoopsfix channels tomorrow.

That wraps up another drop, as always, hit reply with any thoughts, questions or anything else!

With gratitude,

Sam
