Emotions & Stories

Dianne sat down at a table with six other women.

The women were all roughly between fifty and seventy years of age.

The hotel conference room was set with many round tables and remnants of snacks, desserts, and crumbs littered the tables, as conference staff jetted from table to table, removing plates, refilling water glasses, and quietly saying, "excuse me."

One woman was on the edge of tears.

"I have been diagnosed with [an advanced stage cancer]. My husband passed away several years ago and my children don't live anywhere near me. I just realized today that I have no one around to help me. I don't know what I am going to do."

One of the other ladies at the table, a cancer survivor in her early 70s, looked at her and grasped her hand in reassurance and told her, "My husband passed away two years ago of the same kind of cancer. I'll be here to help you. I will go to your appointments with you. I'll be whatever you need."

And she wept in relief and everyone at the table hugged her.

Dianne told me, "That story gives you faith in the power of people. It really underscores the power of love."

Dianne is a 2-time survivor after being diagnosed with a stage 3 cancer and is the founder of Answer2Cancer to help people learn about treatment options, care options, educate themselves, and connect survivors with those newly diagnosed. To help people make connections just like this one.

I'm not here to ask you for money.

I'm here to ask you to share the Answer2Cancer event which is online for obvious reasons this year.

It's Oregon-based, but open to all those diagnosed with cancer, their family and friends, and caregivers. This event helps people get information on things like treatment options and clinical trials. It helps navigate finances, work/HR, nutrition, well-being, and other vital resources... and the most vital of all - human connection.

Here is a sample of how to share the event and help others.

If you or someone you know has been recently diagnosed with cancer send them to https://Answer2Cancer.org. This virtual Patient Education Seminar will help to answer a lot of questions. It is for patients, family, friends, and caregivers.

Please share and help save lives. And add some hope to the social media feeds this week. We all could use a little extra hope this year.
