Show Me The Money! Grants & Funding - Practical Tips & Support

Revised: September 2025

Hello wonderful innovators,

Sending this newsletter out early as I’m on leave & don’t want you to miss out on stuff.

Featured brilliant people this month: Melissa Snover & Pam Sheemar. Interesting fact: Melissa has received the highest seed investment for a woman in UK history. And is the only person I know left university with more money in the bank than when she started! She’s been a massive supporter.

The amazing: Pam Sheemar. NatWest Regional Accelerator Director, Midlands, South West and Wales. Super-high up at the NatWest & has developed programmes to take people with her. Pam's personal & professional work to improve every life she touches is something wonderful to behold.

Top tip this issue! Connect you with your local council, combined authority, university to see what new funds have launched recently. There’s a bunch of them where the money needs to be spent by March 31st 2026! I’ve written a few bids last week which were only announced a few weeks back.

Sometimes you don’t actually need funding, you can skip straight to finding people who are already funded to complete the work. Checkout Yueqi a student funded by the University of Birmingham. He built our prototype Business Plan Writer. Using MBA students meant I didn’t have to write one grant proposal.

Featured free university programme this month is the nationwide Arden Futures Live Industry Project. A nationwide 4-week virtual consultancy gives students the chance to apply their learning to real-world business challenges. Students work flexibly around their studies in small teams, remotely, to address a challenge set by your organisation. Themes can include: Growth Strategy, Digital Marketing, Sustainable Impact.

Featured programme is Virgin StartUp’s brand-new Momentum programme, 8-week accelerator for Dyslexic Thinker founders. In the USA 1 in 3 founders identify as being neurodiverse. Dyslexia is a superpower.

Award season is upon us. Look forward to seeing a few of you on stage as winners over the next few months.

If you or anyone you know has signed up to this newsletter & are not receiving it, check the junk folder, it may have snuck in there.

Top Tips for New Subscribers:

●       If a grant or programme is not in your region, many funds listed are for the W Midlands. Google search the keywords within the grant, as the programme may be running in your area, under a different name.

●       Use AI to search this document, as some of the grants have a short applications window.
