How the Southern Baptist Convention's hypocrisy is showing

Hi ~
The Southern Baptist Convention has been divided for years over women in leadership. Should Southern Baptist churches with women in leadership be ousted from the Convention, or not?
The furor was already raging, they were already removing churches, but at the June convention, they took a vote on it. The pro-women-leader voters barely kept the anti-women-leader voters from winning that vote.
But this "hill to die on" for the anti-women-leader people made me roll my eyes.
Because another reason to oust churches from the convention actually deeply mattered, and they Just. Didn't. Care.
You may already know that the SBC Convention has been notorious through the years for allowing confirmed sexual predators in their churches and citing "church autonomy" as to why they couldn't expel the member churches who allowed it.
I played a very small part in that story in 2014. In 2018, I wrote about it.
That writing is still pertinent today. Because with all its statements and resolutions, the SBC really hasn't changed in this regard.
