Keep Going: The Key to Achieving Your Dreams

No matter who you are or what you’re trying to accomplish, you will have days when quitting looks tempting. But persistence—steady action combined with belief—turns dreams into reality.

That is why, in this writing, I hope to encourage you to keep going when you have setbacks that make you want to give up on your dream.

Pursue Your Dream

I've been pursuing my dream of being a speaker for many years. There were days I felt the things I was working on were a waste of time because of setbacks and slower progress than I expected. Despite that, I kept going.

It's the same with being an author. I've always dreamed of becoming a great author, a New York Times bestseller, selling millions of books.

I know it will take time and won't happen overnight. Instead of complaining that I'm not progressing as quickly as I'd like, I keep going—and you must do the same with your dream. If you don't, you risk making the same mistake as a friend of mine who also dreamed of becoming a speaker.

You see, my friend started working toward his dream of becoming a speaker, but when he faced setbacks he stopped being consistent.

He began to complain and wonder "what if," and instead of continuing, he gave up on his dream. If you want to avoid making the same mistake, commit to keep going even when it feels hopeless.

How to Keep Going: Practical Steps

Now I know that persevering toward your dream in tough times is easier said than done, so I want to give you some practical steps to help you keep going when you feel like giving up.

  •  Set small, measurable goals. Break your goals or dreams into realistic daily or weekly tasks you can actually finish.

  •  Track your progress. Use a calendar to track the days you complete tasks toward your dream. If you want help, I highly recommend my premium e-book, "WORTHY TO BE GREAT," which includes a "30 Days of Self-Discipline Program." It provides a framework not only to track progress but also to develop the discipline to keep going. (Click link to get E-book https://zylvie.com/inGENEious/p/PremiumWTBGEbook )

  •  Practice consistently. Skills improve with repetition, so maintain consistency with small tasks you can do despite any excuses.

  •  Find accountability. Share your goals with someone who will both challenge and support you — or hire me as your personal self-discipline coach. I can help hold you accountable as you progress toward your goals and dreams. If you are interested, send me an email at gene@genemosley.com and put “Self-Discipline Coaching” in the subject line.

  •  Celebrate small wins. Celebrate your successes, no matter how big or small, because this builds momentum and confidence.

Conclusion

Dreams become real for the person who refuses to give up. So keep going despite any setbacks in your life, because You Are WORTHY TO BE GREAT!
