The Jays Lost. And So Did We.

Sunday Reflections is a simple pause to take stock of life.

I believe work should support the life we want—not take over it.

This check-in is my reminder to stay aligned with that truth.

If you’re a Toronto Blue Jays fan, today has been rough.

Losing the World Series hit us like a punch to the gut. We weren’t just cheering for a team — we were cheering for a moment in history. One we feel we almost had.

And that heartbreak reminded me of another kind I felt back in 2020.

We sold our first home in Scarborough.

We moved because we needed more space for our growing family. It was the right thing to do… but it didn’t feel easy.

That house held more than walls and windows:

  • It was where our first two babies came into the world. Where they learned to walk (and run!)
  • Where we spent our first Christmas as a married couple
  • Where we had Halloween parties for the kids & their friends
  • Where we slept on a mattress because we were so broke—but so in love

You see, what I learned (from baseball and moving) is this:

👉 You can be excited for what’s coming and sad about what you’re leaving behind.

👉 You can know it's the “right move” and still cry when you hand over the keys.

And that’s not weakness. That’s love layered into memory.

So let me ask you — Have you ever felt heartbroken walking away from a home?

Hit reply and tell me what moment or memory you miss most.

Warmly,

Fred
