💪 What do you do at mile 9?

If these emails aren't for you anymore, feel free to unsubscribe at the bottom...

There’s a champion boxer from the UK, Chris Eubank Jr.

He tells a story about running on a treadmill.

The plan was 10 miles.

At mile 9, his calf completely cramps.

No cameras.

No coach.

No one watching.

Just him and the treadmill.

But he’d told himself he was running 10...

So he limped the final mile.

Why?

Because, as he puts it:

“The commitments we keep to ourselves and what we do when no one’s watching is the most persuasive evidence that governs everything we do every day after.”

See, lasting health has very little to do with the program.

It has everything to do with the evidence you’re collecting about yourself.

Every time you say you’ll train - and don’t - you collect evidence.

Every time you promise to reset tomorrow or monday - you collect evidence.

& our logical brains are very good at generating smart-sounding reasons in the moment.

And in isolation, each one feels harmless.

But the gap quietly compounds.

The gap between who you say you are <> and what you repeatedly do.

Over time, that gap erodes something deeper than fitness.

It erodes self-trust.

And self-trust is the biggest driver of lasting health.

Now...

You don’t need to limp 10 miles on a treadmill.

Or push through pain when your body's about to break.

But most of the time that’s not what’s happening.

Most of the time, it’s just mild discomfort.

A brain looking for the easier option.

And that’s the moment that matters.

That’s where self-trust is built.
