-ette Issue 7 is now live!

Hi Everyone,

-ette Issue 7 is now live!

This one is officially unthemed, but as Beth and I were working on it, we started calling it our "sparkly winter magic" issue. (You'll see Beth kept that in mind as she created the cover art.) We hope you'll find something inside that enchants you.

Issue 7, Winter 2026

We have bright, new, crystalline work by:

Lauren Camp, Theodore Heil, Marc Kaufman, Dawn Macdonald, Natalie Marino, and Adam McOmber

(A cool mix of bios here: a poet from Whitehorse, Yukon, who grew up without electricity or running water; a physician in California; a past New Mexico Poet Laureate and Grand Canyon Nation Park Astronomer-in-Residence; and a prof in Tokyo, to name a few.)

The seventh episode, Time Keeps on Slippin', of -ette's companion podcast, pod-ette, is live now too:

Pod-ette host, Melanie Hoopes, finds comfort in snowbanks and "A Tree, A Rock, A Cloud." She talks with Adam McOmber (“Things That Are Ghosts”) and Marc Kaufman (“Speak of the Woman”) about interactions with buildings and poems that have rocked their world. Original music is by Chester Jankowski.

If you enjoy pod-ette, please help us spread the word by subscribing and sharing with your friends!

In other news,

  • We're excited to announce two stories from -ette review were selected by Diane Seuss for Best Microfiction 2026: Jose Hernandez Diaz's "The Search" and Matt Leibel's "How to Buy a Snow Globe." Both are from our Fall 2025: Roulette issue.
  • Lucy Zhang's, "Layered House," which first appeared in our Winter 2024: Cassette issue, is now available in print as part of Best Small Fictions 2025. Congratulations, Lucy!
  • We've published over 50 writers so far! You can now browse and search them in our brand new Writer Index.
  • We're hosting our first ever in-person reading at the AWP Conference in Baltimore March 4:
