From the program guide:
You are creating new habits and breaking old ones. Be gentle with yourself. If you are used to snacking at night this might seem tough at first. Allow yourself mistakes, but know that no good food choices really happen after 8 o’clock :-)
Habit stacking is an easy strategy, written about in Atomic Habits by James Clear. You stack a good habit into something you are already doing. For example, If you brush your teeth each morning, find a comfortable chair, set a timer and meditate for 6 minutes after you brush your teeth, while coffee/tea is brewing. Another great habit stack is this: If you go for a walk every day (15 Minutes) come in and do 5 push-ups, knees, toes or by the wall.
We are not reinventing the wheel.
We are trying to create good habits.
One reason I feel confident that I will never retire is this:
- I love what I do
- I love helping people create habits around exercise, eating and mindfulness.
- My own habits are tied to my clients: I get healthier helping others
- I plan on creating active aging programs, and having my clients get older with me!
- I find a lot of joy in purpose
- Habits are not one and done
