Between the Pages

Hi

Warning: long newsletter follows:

Busy times since my last newsletter. I was about to drive a relocation mobile home from Adelaide to Alice Springs, a distance of around 1530 kms. My sister travelled with me, and we spread the trip over three days. We were instructed not to travel at night, but with the risk of hitting kangaroos or other animals, we chose not to anyway.

We spent the first night camped by Spud’s Roadhouse (Pimba), and the second in Coober Pedy. As locals will know, this is an opal mining town in remote South Australia. We browsed the local mining museum, and checked out some very pretty stones. I resisted temptation though, and did not purchase any.

Alice Springs had changed a lot since I lived there. Recent rains had brought on fresh growth and I was impressed with the amount of greenery around, also more trees than I remembered. There was some water in the Todd River. If you have read ‘Trust Your Heart’, you will recall that Joel was washed off the causeway over the river by Heavitree Gap. That causeway is still there.

We drove to the top of Anzac Hill to survey the town. Still the same, though the town has grown significantly. This location features in each of the books in the Red Centre Series, and it is where Alex proposed to Kathy towards the end of The Red Heart.

(Just a side-note, after the trip to Alice, another book in the Red Centre Series is in the planning stages).

In case you are wondering, yes, I did purchase a campervan after my epic journey to the Centre. Not as big, but still a significant size. It is a VW Crafter, and it fitted out with kitchen, two single beds, and an en suite. I’m in the process of updating the curtains, bedding and some other features. Still planning the first trip, but possibly to Whyalla to see the giant cuttlefish that migrate to that area at this time each year.

The van is yet to be named. Thinking Bruce, Kev, or George.

That offer expires on 30 June, so if you haven’t accessed your copy yet, you had better be quick. As always, if you do read the book, a review left would be wonderful. That can be on Bookbub, Goodreads, my website, or any of the major online book retailers. Follow the link below to download your copy.

Different Authors

The eagle-eyed will have noticed that Emily Hussey and Rowena Wylde write quite different genres, though both influenced by romance.

Emily Hussey’s books are contemporary Australian romance, and may have a few open bedroom door scenes, but are quite tame by comparison with other books available.

Rowena Wylde writes spicier books, and some of them incorporate more challenging themes. I am aware there may not be a crossover between the two groups of readers.

Most of the subscribers to this newsletter have done so because they are interested in Emily Hussey’s books. I am not currently at the stage of sending two separate newsletters, so will separate the posts relating to each author in different segments of the newsletter.

Quick Question

Although I produce print copies of some books, they are available directly from me, except for Skywalkers which is available from Amazon as a print book.

All other books are only available online in ebook form, on the assumption that people are happy to have a book that is cheaper and can be read on an electronic device.

Am I right?

Let me know if you would also be interested in purchasing paperback copies of books.

Yes, I would purchase print books from the online retailers. Click here.

No, I only want to purchase ebooks to read electronically. Click here.

News from Rowena Wylde

You're the first to know about it. Rowena has just published Dangerous Liaisons, set between Bali and Sydney, and with Mafia undertones.

A chance encounter on a Balinese island leads Allegra Castelli into the arms of a magnetic stranger—five nights of heat, intimacy, and a connection she can’t shake. She returns to Sydney, ready to re-enter her father’s criminally-tinged empire, only to be thrown into tense negotiations over a harborside hotel and casino development. The last person she expects to see across the boardroom table is Mishka Volkov—the same woman from the island, now revealed to be the razor-sharp heir to a Russian dynasty with secrets of its own.

Their passion reignites in the shadows, but family expectations, old grudges, and dangerous alliances threaten to tear them apart. An arranged marriage, an attempted kidnapping, and a blackmail scheme with deadly consequences force Allegra and Mishka to choose: betray their families—or each other.

What began as seduction becomes survival.

And the only thing more dangerous than their enemies… is the love they refuse to surrender.

She trusted the wrong people. She survived the unthinkable. Now she’s ready to fight back.

When Zahra arrives in Sydney with nothing but a backpack and a flicker of hope, she never expects to be sold into the sex trade by someone she thought was a friend. Trapped in a brutal underworld, her spirit is shattered—but not broken.

Years later, Zahra is free—but freedom has its own price. Haunted by the death of a friend and failed by a justice system that sees some lives as disposable, she begins to take justice into her own hands.

Fallen Angel is the gripping origin story of Zahra, the woman who will become an avenging force for those who cannot fight back.
