Instagram LogoMy health journey is a long one.. 👇 But I’m grateful for it because it’s led me to what fuels me the most: helping people reduce their toxic burden through lifestyle changes. I didn’t have a period for 8 years. I went plant based, exercised, did all the right things. Still didn’t see results. Until I came across research discussing endocrine disrupting chemicals in our products. 🧐 I discovered the amount of chemicals being used that contain so many hormone disrupting toxicants! I couldn’t believe it. I took a look at what I was cooking with, cleaning with, using as personal care and I realized my home was surrounded with these. Not only that, stress and constant sympathetic overdrive can down regulate our livers detox enzymes! So I took a good look at my exercise routine and incorporated more yoga and walking. It’s also important to incorporate breathwork and/or meditation daily for this 💚 Lastly, our body needs specific nutrients to help support our body’s drainage pathways to eliminate these toxins! So I added these daily. And finally… the changes came 🥹 If you’re confused where to start ⤵️ 🌱 Start with eating organic foods, and diversify your produce. 🌱 Stress less! Find ways to incorporate more mindfulness in your day. 🌱 Reduce plastics, scented products, unnecessary antibiotics (usually through animal products), & high sources of heavy metals because these contribute to im balancing our hormones. . . Instagram LogoCould indoor air contamination be contributing to your health? 🧐 It most definitely could be. Let’s talk about how 👇 The EPA has found indoor air to be 2-5x more polluted than outdoor air. This can be a major source of toxins entering the body! This can include: volatile organic compounds, pet dander, mold spores, PM 2.5, dust and more (BPA and pthalates have actually been found in dust). A lot of these like to hide in the dust and build up, contributing to our everyday air we are breathing 🥵 So how does detergent, candles, air fresheners and cleaning supplies create a more toxic indoor air environment? Because when they’re used, the chemicals are released into the air and get trapped, constantly being recirculated in your home. The reason we want to avoid these products 👉 they contain endocrine disrupting chemicals. Meaning they disrupt our hormonal system. A common EDC is pthalates, which is a class of chemicals found in fragranced products. They act as a binding agent. They’ve been associated with insulin resistance, asthma, resistant weight loss/overweight, reproductive issues and more. Luckily phthalates are a non persistent toxicant which means it gets cleared from the body pretty quickly. First strategy is avoiding known sources of these and opting for better switches! It’s always best to avoid products that contain the word “fragrance” or “parfum” as this is an umbrella term hiding numerous chemicals being used, and typically pthalates is one of them. . .
