Instagram LogoLiver & gut healthy protein bars 🌱🙌 I’ve been making my own protein bars for years, mainly because 👇 1) Most protein bars aren’t tested for heavy metals, and so many use pea protein which can contain high amounts! 2) Not organic = pesticides 3) Many contain ingredients such as sunflower oil, “natural flavors”, & preservatives 4) Brown rice syrup is in many as a sweetener, but most rice contains arsenic. Cocoa powder is also used in a lot of bars and I don’t know if it’s been tested for heavy metals, such as cadmium. Why make your own?! 👏 If the above four reasons didn’t convince you.. 😄then it should be because making your own allows you to ADD in your own amazing nutrients! Our body’s detoxification pathways tend to get overburdened from exposure to many environmental toxins, leaving us with: fatigue, gut issues, and resistant weight loss being a few I see in my practice. Making your own bars is an easy way to add in nutrients that support your body’s detox paths! Here’s what I include in these bars: 🌱 Almond flour 🌱 @nuzest_usa vanilla protein (code DRPEACOCK for 15% off) - amino acids for liver support 🌱 Cinnamon - spices are amazing for gut & liver support, diversity, also helps with blood sugar 🌱 Almond butter - Vitamin E for liver support 🌱 Maple syrup (or date syrup) 🌱 Sweet potato- Vitamin C for liver support 🌱 Dark chocolate chips (I use @santabarbarachocolate code DRPEACOCK) - these have been tested for heavy metals. And provide magnesium to support our liver DM me for recipe! 🍠 Link in bio for free 15 minute consult.
Instagram LogoWhat’s in our water and why does it matter? 👇 Aside from heavy metals, pesticides, and antibiotics which we know can cause a host of health issues, I wanted to bring awareness to another: Trihalomethanes. “Trihalomethanes (THM’s) are the result of a reaction between the chlorine used for disinfecting tap water and natural organic matter in the water” (PMC1257668) THMs are linked to negative health effects such as adverse reproductive outcomes, central nervous system problems, and even cancer. Since this occurs from chlorine I want to make clear that although public chlorination has been amazing for killing pathogenic bacteria, it doesn’t mean it’s good for us. Chlorine is a volatile organic chemical meaning it vaporizes so we can end up inhaling large amounts. THMs can actually be absorbed much quicker in our bodies from a hot shower than drinking it from tap water. A 2002 study in the journal of Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology found that 40-70% of our exposure occurs from daily bathing activities. So how do we avoid this? 🚿 Consider a shower/bath filter 💧 Water drinking filter And support your body’s detox organs by eating a variety of plant nutrients to assist your body’s ability to eliminate these toxins. Link in bio for my favorite water filter! Do you think your body is experiencing toxic burden symptoms such as fatigue, brain fog, resistant weight loss, skin issues? Often times it’s what we are consistently exposing ourselves to in our environment! Instagram Logo18 months ago I wouldn’t have been able to do this 🏔 Which is why I want to tell you that healing IS possible, our bodies have the blueprint to heal 🙏 Almost two years ago I was sick with a big viral infection. One thing led to another and it developed into severe gut symptoms. I couldn’t leave the house for five months because moving made my symptoms worse. I couldn’t exercise. Didn’t work. Didn’t socialize. There were a lot of foods I couldn’t eat. I was in and out of the ER because I was having all these symptoms in my gut. I took things one day at a time. And that’s easier said than done… I had my positive days and negative days. Healing isn’t linear. There are ups and downs. But healing can and does happen. And it’s so important to remember that. I remember how scared I was to exercise again after five months, worried my symptoms would return. It took time but I slowly regained my health back. Which is why I don’t take for granted that I can move my body 🤍 And doing these hikes make me so happy because I always remember how at one point, I would just wish I could get out and do these. Our bodies know how to heal. A lot of times, the changes won’t happen overnight. But they will happen. I wanted to share this because often times I get asked “do you think I’ll get better?” And the answer is YES. I have always been passionate about helping people, but after my own experience it became exponential to become that healer. Ultimately it led me to be grateful for my experience and to move forward helping others 🙏
