Hi friend!
Here's something for you to...
1) watch.
What makes a good life? Lessons from the longest study on happiness
A lovely TED Talk on what actually makes us happy and fulfilled.
2) read.
Tiny Beautiful Things: Advice on Love and Life from Dear Sugar
Several of my friends have said this is one of the most life-changing books they've ever read.
A friend recently gifted it to me for my birthday. I was hit by its power in the first two pages.
3) use.
10 Time Management Tips
From YouTuber Ali Abdaal.
4) listen to.
Police Training & Police Misconduct
Easily one of the most important podcasts I've ever listened to. From Brazilian Jiujitsu master Rener Gracie, we learn the shocking truth of how undertrained cops are.
By no means does this conversation claim to be the end all be all for police brutality. But as someone who has been transformed by the benefits of learning martial arts, I feel like too many people are confused and don't appreciate the difference between someone who is trained in armed combat and someone who isn't.
This chat puts politics aside and highlights something I'm incredibly passionate about (jiujitsu) and explains how it can prevent needless violence.
Extras.
Some of my blogs.
Otherizing
On putting people in boxes in our minds.
I'm not a natural
On my least favorite compliment.
Remembering
What we already know.
Be a guide, not a boss
And the difference between the two.
Quotes.
“We can’t punish ourselves into being a good person.”
-Tara Brach
“What we know of other people is only in our memory of the moments during which we knew them. And they have changed since then…”
-T.S. Eliot
“You should absolutely, without a doubt, avoid violence at all costs. But you should also know how to fight.”
-Joe Rogan
